Bangladesh ‘A’ Post Big Total Against Nepal in Top End T20 Series
After a heavy defeat to Pakistan Shaheens in the opening match of the Top End T20 Series, Bangladesh ‘A’ bounced back strongly with the bat in their second game against Nepal. Led by skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan, the team set a challenging target of 184 runs.
Openers Naim Sheikh and Zishan Alam gave Bangladesh a flying start, dominating the Nepalese bowlers in the powerplay. Their 60-run stand was broken in the 7th over by leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane. Naim, who had scored only 5 in the previous match, contributed 25 off 18 balls this time.
Zishan Alam, however, carried on in style. Preferring sixes over fours, the opener played an explosive knock of 71 off 45 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 4 boundaries before being dismissed in the 13th over.
After Zishan’s dismissal, Afif Hossain came in with an attacking intent, striking three consecutive boundaries off his first three deliveries. But Bangladesh suffered a setback when Saif Hasan, who had been the top scorer in the previous game, was run out for 11.
Afif then found support in captain Nurul Hasan Sohan as the pair looked to push Bangladesh to a commanding total.
