Furious Bangladesh Government Orders Suspension of IPL Broadcast After Mustafizurs Exclusion
Following the shocking news that Bangladesh’s star pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been excluded from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in India’s Indian Premier League (IPL), the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a directive to suspend the broadcast of all IPL matches.
Today, Monday, the Ministry sent a letter to the relevant broadcasting channels, noting that Mustafizur Rahman’s exclusion from the IPL, scheduled to begin on 26 March 2026, has come to light. The Ministry stated that there is no known justification for the Indian cricket board’s decision.
The official statement reads:"In light of the above, it is to be informed that the Indian Cricket Board’s directive to exclude Bangladesh’s star player, Mr. Mustafizur Rahman, from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches scheduled from 26 March 2026 has been observed. The rationale behind this decision is unknown, and such a move has caused pain, distress, and anger among the people of Bangladesh."
The statement further adds:"Accordingly, until further instructions, the broadcast of all IPL matches and related programs is requested to be suspended. This order has been issued with the approval of the competent authorities and in the interest of the public."
