Mohammedan Sporting Club ended a long-standing dry spell by defeating arch-rivals Abahani Limited in the Dhaka Premier League after 11 matches and 9 years. However, the historic victory was slightly marred by disciplinary actions against Mohammedan players following an on-field dispute with the umpires.

During the eighth over of Abahani's innings, pacer Ebadot Hossain appealed for a leg-before decision which was turned down by umpire Tanvir Ahmed. Mohammedan players strongly protested the decision, and tensions escalated when captain Towhid Hridoy got involved in a heated argument with the other on-field umpire, Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat.

Following the match, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took disciplinary action. Mohammedan captain Towhid Hridoy was found guilty of breaching Level 2 of the Code of Conduct for showing dissent at an umpire's decision and has been handed a one-match suspension.

Ebadot Hossain was also penalized for his reaction to the umpire's call. He was fined BDT 40,000 for a Level 1 offense under the Code of Conduct.

Despite the controversy, Mohammedan celebrated a well-earned 39-run victory at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. After being sent to bat first, Mohammedan were bowled out for 264 with 10 balls remaining. In reply, Abahani were bundled out for 225 with 16 balls to spare.

The result marked a significant moment for Mohammedan, both in terms of performance and pride, in this storied Dhaka rivalry.
