Sunrisers Hyderabad have named Ravichandran Smaran as the replacement for the injured Adam Zampa, an IPL media advisory stated on Monday (April 14). The release also confirmed that Ayush Mhatre was picked by CSK as a replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad, as reported earlier by Cricbuzz.
Smaran, a 21-year-old left-handed batter from Karnataka, joins the SRH setup at his base price of INR 30 lakh, while Mumbai batter Mhatre has been picked up by CSK for the same amount.
Smaran has played seven first-class games in which he has scored over 500 runs at an average of 64.50, including a double century against Punjab. He has also played 10 List A games since his debut in 2024, scoring 433 runs at an average of 72.16, with two hundreds, while he has scored 170 runs in six T20 matches at a strike rate of 170.
Both SRH and CSK are in the bottom half of the standings.
