Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team secured their third consecutive victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, defeating Scotland by 34 runs. Powered by Nigar Sultana Joty’s commanding 83*, the Tigresses posted a total of 276 runs in their allotted overs. In response, Scotland Women were restricted to 242 for 9.

Winning the toss at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Bangladesh opted to bat first. After the early dismissal of Ishma Tanjim at 35, a 104-run partnership for the second wicket between Farzana Haque and Sharmin Akter laid a solid foundation. Both batters scored 57 runs before being dismissed via catches.

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty then led from the front with an aggressive knock, scoring an unbeaten 83 off 59 balls, which included 11 boundaries. Fahima Khatun added a handy 26 off 22 balls. At the end of 50 overs, Bangladesh finished on 276. For Scotland, Kathryn Bryce took two wickets.

Chasing a big target, Scotland were rocked early by Nahida Akter’s double strike, losing three wickets for just 31 runs. Sarah Bryce and Elisa Lister tried to steady the innings, but Elisa was run out. Jannatul Ferdous then dismissed Sarah for 42.

With regular wickets falling, Scotland were reduced to 110 for 7, staring at defeat. However, an impressive 115-run stand off 124 balls between Rachel Slater and Priyanaz Chatterji for the eighth wicket gave Scotland hope. But before it could turn dangerous, Nahida Akter broke the partnership, removing Priyanaz for 61. Rachel remained unbeaten on 61.

Ultimately, Scotland fell short, managing 242 for 9 in their full quota. Nahida Akter was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh with 4 wickets, while Jannatul Ferdous claimed 2.
