In the second T20I of the series in Dunedin, New Zealand comfortably defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets, chasing down the target with 11 balls to spare. The match was reduced to 15 overs per side due to rain, and following an explosive start from Tim Seifert and Finn Allen, New Zealand's victory seemed almost inevitable.
After being dismissed for a dismal 91 runs in the first T20I in Christchurch, Pakistan was once again unable to challenge New Zealand in the second game. Seifert and Allen's blistering partnership, which produced 66 runs off just 29 balls, set the foundation for a straightforward win for the Kiwis.
Pakistan managed only 135 runs after losing 9 wickets in their allotted 15 overs. Their top scorer was captain Salman Agar, who contributed 46 runs off 28 balls, while Shadab Khan added a quick 26 runs off 14 balls. However, Pakistan's batting line-up crumbled once again, with opener Hassan Nawaz failing to score in his second match, getting out for a duck.
New Zealand's bowlers—Jacob Duffy, Ben Sears, Jimmy Neesham, and Ish Sodhi—each picked up 2 wickets, stifling Pakistan's efforts to set a challenging total.
In response, New Zealand started poorly with no runs off the first over but quickly turned the game around. Seifert and Allen launched a barrage of boundaries, hitting 7 sixes in the following 12 balls. Seifert smashed 45 runs off 22 balls, while Allen made 38 off just 16 balls. Both players hit 5 sixes each, dominating the Pakistani bowlers. Although Mark Chapman fell cheaply for just 1 run, New Zealand managed to reach the target with 11 balls remaining.
Seifert's quickfire innings earned him the Player of the Match award as New Zealand extended their lead in the 5-match series to 2-0.
