Bangladesh suffer setback ahead of Australia tour as Ebadot ruled out, concerns remain over Rana and Litton

Bangladesh have suffered a major setback ahead of their tour of Australia for the ICC World Test Championship next month. Experienced fast bowler Ebadot Hossain has been ruled out of the two-Test series due to personal reasons, while the availability of pace star Nahid Rana and senior batter Litton Das remains uncertain because of injuries.

According to information confirmed by the ICC, Ebadot has been granted leave from the national team as he is expecting the birth of his first child. As a result, he will miss the Australia tour.

However, Bangladesh have received a boost with spearhead pacer Taskin Ahmed deciding to prioritise red-ball cricket. Despite being granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), Taskin withdrew from the tournament to focus on his preparations for the Test series against Australia.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is awaiting the scan results of Nahid Rana’s side injury. It remains unclear whether the young fast bowler will recover in time for the opening Test. At the same time, the selectors are also monitoring the fitness of Litton Das, who is recovering from a calf injury, to determine whether he will be available for the series.

To better adapt to Australian conditions, Bangladesh will arrive in the country early next month. Before the opening Test in Darwin on August 13, the Tigers will play a three-day warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI from August 3.

The first Test of the two-match series will be played in Darwin, while the second and final Test will begin in Mackay on August 22.
