Nurul Hasan Sohan was impressive with the bat in the T20I series against Afghanistan. Remaining unbeaten in all three matches, he scored a total of 64 runs — a performance that brought him back into the spotlight. Though he wasn’t seen behind the stumps during the Asia Cup, his chances of returning as wicketkeeper in the upcoming ODIs now look strong.
With Litton Das unavailable, the question arises — who will keep wickets for Bangladesh? ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has a clear answer: he wants Sohan behind the stumps. Not only that, Miraz boldly labeled him as “the best wicketkeeper in Bangladesh.”
Speaking to the media ahead of the ODI series, Miraz said,“We all know how important Sohan is for Bangladesh. In my opinion, he is currently the best wicketkeeper in the country. Naturally, he has a strong chance of being picked for the ODI matches.”
The captain also explained his reasoning, saying, “Zakir is performing well, but Sohan has far more experience. He has played many matches for Bangladesh and knows how to handle pressure. I believe that if given the opportunity, Sohan can bring more success to the team.”
Having already proven himself as a reliable finisher in T20Is, Sohan will look to carry that form into the ODI setup. In Litton’s absence, Bangladesh will surely count on his experience and composure.
