Tanzim Sakib's Record Lasts Less Than 24 Hours, Ferguson Delivers 24 Dot Balls
On November 14, 2021, Saad bin Zafar of Canada set a record against Panama by bowling 4 overs with all being maidens. This was the record for the most dot balls bowled by any bowler in a four-over spell in international T20s. However, today, New Zealand's fast bowler Lockie Ferguson equaled that record.
In the ongoing T20 World Cup, New Zealand bowled out Papua New Guinea for 78 runs.
Lockie Ferguson took the highest 3 wickets for the Kiwis. He bowled 4 overs and delivered all 24 balls as dot balls. This is a record for the most dot balls bowled in a T20 World Cup match without conceding a run.
Ironically, the record for the most dot balls in a single innings of a T20 World Cup match was set by Bangladesh's Tanzim Hasan Sakib just this morning. He bowled 21 dot balls against Nepal. However, that record didn't even last 24 hours, as Ferguson took over.
