Bangladesh and West Indies share the Test series 1-1

In his captaincy debut, Mehidy Hasan Miraz led Bangladesh to a historic Test victory against the West Indies at Kingston. This win marked Bangladesh's first Test victory in the West Indies since 2009, and it ended a long wait for the team. In that series, Bangladesh had whitewashed the West Indies 2-0, but this time, the series ended in a 1-1 draw, as the West Indies won the first Test by 201 runs.

After a heavy defeat in the first Test at Antigua, Bangladesh needed to win the second Test to level the series. With West Indies bowled out for 185 in their second innings, Bangladesh won by 101 runs at Sabina Park, Kingston, and brought the series to a draw. Both teams shared the trophy, a symbolic gesture of mutual respect and sportsmanship.

After the match, both captains, Craig Brathwaite of the West Indies and Mehidy Hasan Miraz of Bangladesh, were seen posing together with the trophy. A photo of the two captains together had been taken before the start of the series, signifying the respect both teams had for each other throughout the series.

The victory was built on a collective effort, starting with Nahid Rana’s brilliant 5-wicket haul in the first innings. In the second innings, the Bangladesh batters displayed aggression, with Jaker Ali Anik scoring an invaluable 91 runs, putting his team on the path to victory. Finally, Taijul Islam’s match-winning spell of 5 wickets sealed the deal for Bangladesh, and he was named the Player of the Match for his exceptional performance, taking 5 wickets for just 50 runs in the second innings.

The Player of the Series award was shared between two pace bowlers, Bangladesh's Taskin Ahmed and West Indies' Jayden Seales. Taskin picked up 11 wickets during the series, while Seales claimed 10 wickets, making them both deserving winners of the prestigious honor.

This historic win not only showcased Bangladesh's resilience but also highlighted Mehidy Hasan Miraz's successful captaincy debut.
