Bangladesh is looking to begin its preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup with the upcoming T20 series against India. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto believes this series will mark a new approach for the team as they focus on the World Cup.
In a press conference in Gwalior, Shanto stated, "You will see a different approach from everyone in this series. Everyone will play to win. Along with the current players, there may be 4-5 more who will join us for the 2026 World Cup. This series will serve as the starting point for our World Cup preparations, and we will keep the 2026 goals in mind."
Shanto expressed confidence in his ability to bounce back, saying, "I am not too worried about my performance. I believe I can make a quick comeback. I had two good innings towards the end of the World Cup in T20s. I will try to contribute in this series."
Focusing on the upcoming T20 series, Shanto's team is keen to move past the recently concluded Test series. "The Test series is behind us. We all know we didn't perform well there, and I don't want to dwell on what has happened. This is a very important series ahead. T20 is a completely different game. On a given day, the team that plays better wins. This is a new ground, and we don't have much knowledge about it. However, we've been practicing for the past few days to get an idea of how the wicket might behave. As an international team, we need to adapt as quickly as possible. I hope we can deliver good cricket."
Shanto emphasized that Bangladesh aims to play aggressive cricket and win the series against India. "Honestly, we want to win the series. We want to play aggressive cricket. In the last World Cup, we had a great chance to reach the semifinals."
