ICC have announced the team of the tournament

The ICC has announced the Best XI for the T20 World Cup, which prominently features champion Indian cricketers. Surprisingly, despite being runners-up, no South African players made the Best XI, nor did any Bangladeshi cricketers.

Six Indian players have been included in the ICC's Best XI. Three players from semi-finalist Afghanistan are featured, and one player each from the West Indies and Australia, despite neither team making it to the semi-finals. South Africa's Anrich Nortje has been named as the 12th player.

2024 T20 World Cup Best XI:

• Rohit Sharma (Captain): The second-highest run-scorer of the tournament with 257 runs in 8 innings.
• Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Wicketkeeper): The tournament's highest run-scorer with 281 runs.
• Nicholas Pooran: West Indies batsman with 228 runs.
• Suryakumar Yadav: Key Indian batsman known for his aggressive batting and crucial catches in the final.
• Marcus Stoinis: Australian all-rounder with 169 runs and 10 wickets.
• Hardik Pandya: Indian all-rounder who took 11 wickets and scored 144 runs, bowled the final over in the final match.
• Axar Patel: Indian all-rounder who scored 47 runs in the final.
• Rashid Khan: Afghan leg-spinner with 14 wickets.
• Fazalhaq Farooqi: Afghan pacer and joint highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets.
• Arshdeep Singh: Indian pacer and joint highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets.
• Jasprit Bumrah: Named the best player of the tournament with 15 wickets.

12th Player:

• Anrich Nortje: South African bowler.

Rohit Sharma leads the team as captain and opener, scoring 257 runs in 8 innings. Alongside him, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the tournament's highest run-scorer with 281 runs, opens the innings. Nicholas Pooran from the West Indies takes the number three position with 228 runs.

At number four, Suryakumar Yadav's explosive batting and crucial catches in the final earn him a spot. Despite Australia's early exit, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is placed at number five with 169 runs and 10 wickets. Indian all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel occupy the sixth and seventh spots. Pandya finished the tournament with 11 wickets and 144 runs, while Patel scored 47 runs in the final.

The bowling attack includes Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who took 14 wickets. Pacers Fazalhaq Farooqi and Arshdeep Singh, the joint highest wicket-takers with 17 wickets each, are also included. Jasprit Bumrah, the tournament's best player with 15 wickets, completes the XI.
