A new era has dawned in Test cricket for Bangladesh. Whitewashing Pakistan on their own soil is undoubtedly one of Bangladesh's greatest achievements in Test cricket. This accomplishment has brought immense joy and emotional satisfaction to everyone, from the players to the entire nation.
Bangladesh secured the much-desired victory against Pakistan with a boundary from Shakib Al Hasan. When asked about the emotions involved, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said at a press conference:
"The emotion is hard to describe in words. I consider this achievement to be one of the greatest moments in Bangladesh cricket. When Mushfiqur Bhai and Shakib Bhai were batting, we wanted them to finish the game. They have been playing for so many years and have won many matches. Winning a match like this is very special. We all wanted it, and everyone is very happy."
Regarding the victory over Pakistan, Shanto added, "It is extremely important. Everyone has struggled a lot over the past month and a half. Cricket holds a lot of emotional value in our country. I hope this match and series win will bring at least some smiles to their faces. We are very happy to bring this joy to them."
When asked how their performance could inspire young players despite the numerous setbacks, Shanto responded, "Belief is very important. Every player believed that we could make a comeback at any time. Miraz batted at number eight, which added depth to our batting. So, we believed that if we set a target, it was possible to score big runs here. Every player believed that we could make a comeback at any time."
Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of Bangladesh's interim government, called to congratulate captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Regarding this, Shanto said, "Yes, Dr. Yunus Sir called us. He congratulated us and is very happy. He wants to meet the entire team after we return to the country."
The captain believes that this victory against Pakistan will bring joy to the people of Bangladesh, given the tough conditions like the floods and protests they have faced:
"This victory will bring a lot of joy to the people of the country. Recently, with the floods and protests, many people have been going through difficult times. The way we played the match, I believe it will bring some smiles to people's faces. We all know how passionate our people are about cricket. Even when we lose, they support us immensely. Our effort was to give something back to the people of the country. Alhamdulillah, I think we have achieved something good."
