West Indies vs Bangladesh, 2nd Test at Kingston
After a heavy 201-run defeat to West Indies in the opening Test in Antigua, Bangladesh will be hoping to bounce back and level the series as they face off in the second Test at Sabina Park, Jamaica, today. However, the start of the match has been delayed due to a wet outfield, preventing the toss from taking place at the scheduled time.
Delayed Toss Due to Wet Outfield
The toss for the match has been officially delayed because of the wet outfield conditions. Umpires have decided to inspect the field at 10:00 AM local time, while ground staff at Sabina Park continue to prepare the playing surface for the match.
In the previous Test, Bangladesh’s batting crumbled, posting scores of 269/9 and 132 in two innings. After such a heavy defeat, the key question for Bangladesh is how they will approach this match under captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz.
Bangladesh's Recent Struggles
Since losing to Pakistan 2-0 in their last series, Bangladesh has failed to secure a victory in their subsequent five Test matches. This includes losses against India, South Africa, and now West Indies. With this series on the line, Miraz’s team will be determined to return to winning ways in this match, which is their final Test in the 2023-25 ICC Test Championship cycle.
Changes to Bangladesh's Lineup
Bangladesh’s lineup could see some changes ahead of the match. Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy will be replaced by Sadman Islam, while Zakir Hasan, who had a poor performance in the first Test, will be dropped. In his place, Mahidul Islam Ankon will make his debut. There is also a possibility that Shariful Islam could be left out, with Nahid Rana coming in as a replacement.
Bangladesh and West Indies Starting Lineups:
Bangladesh's Potential XI:
Shahadat Hossain Dipu, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan, Mominul Haque, Liton Kumar Das (Wicketkeeper), Zakir Ali Anik, Mehedi Hasan Miraz (Captain), Taijul Islam, Shariful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud.
West Indies' Potential XI:
Craig Brathwaite (Captain), Joshua Da Silva (Vice-Captain), Allick Athanaze, Kese Carty, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Alzarri Joseph, Shamarh Brooks, Micaiah Lewis, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales.
With West Indies leading the series 1-0, the second and final Test is set to begin in Jamaica today, Saturday. Bangladesh will look to make a strong comeback and equalize the series.
