HUGE win for Zimbabwe against Pakistan in the first ODI
After losing a series to Australia at home a few days ago, Pakistan has now suffered a setback against Zimbabwe. In the first ODI of the series in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe defeated Pakistan by 80 runs using the DLS method.
On Sunday in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first. They were bowled out for 205 runs in 49.4 overs, 58 balls before the allotted 50 overs. After a 40-run opening partnership, Zimbabwe's first wicket fell when Joylord Gumbie was run out. With quick strikes from Agha Salman, Dion Myers and Tadiwanashe Marumani were dismissed soon after.
Losing wickets at regular intervals, Zimbabwe found themselves at 99/5. However, Sikandar Raza and Richard Ngarava built a 62-run partnership to stabilize the innings. Sikandar Raza scored 39 runs.
Ngarava made 48 runs from 52 balls. However, thanks to the efforts of Faisal Akram, Zimbabwe was bowled out for 205 in just 40.2 overs. Agha Salman and Faisal Akram took 3 wickets each for Pakistan.
Chasing a target of 206, Pakistan lost wickets early on and was soon out of the game. Before the rain interruption, they managed to score only 60 runs for 6 wickets in 21 overs. Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten on 19, the highest score for Pakistan.
Had Pakistan's score reached 141 before the rain, they would have won. However, since this was not the case, they had to accept an 80-run defeat under the DLS method.
