Shubman and Avesh Returning to India
Shubman Gill, who shone in the ODI World Cup, did not make it into India's squad for the T20 World Cup. Despite this, he was kept with the team as a reserve player. However, since India has already qualified for the Super Eight, the need for Shubman Gill as a reserve player no longer exists. Consequently, Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan are returning home.
Apart from the 15 main squad members for the T20 World Cup, India had kept 4 players as reserves. These four were Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan, Rinku Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed. While Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan are set to return home, Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed will continue to stay with the team.
India will play against Canada in Florida on June 15. Following this match, the two reserve players, Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan, will return to India. It is reported that Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan will head back to India after the match against Canada.
Currently, the Indian cricket team has Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as opening batters. Yashasvi Jaiswal is in the 15-member squad as the third opener but has not yet had the opportunity to play. Because of his presence, there is no need for Shubman Gill as a fourth opener in the Super Eight. On the other hand, Rinku Singh’s batting and Khaleel Ahmed as a left-arm pacer might be needed, so they will remain with the team.
India has already secured their place in the Super Eight from Group 'A' by winning 3 matches. After the match against Canada in America, Team India will head to the West Indies for the Super Eight, where they will play three matches. The team may then proceed to the semifinals and later to the final.
