2025 BPL: Rangpur Riders ready to start strong with new stars

The 2025 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is almost here, and Rangpur Riders are gearing up for a thrilling season. The tournament, starting on December 30, will see Rangpur Riders take on Dhaka Capitals in the opening match of the season at 6:30 PM. The team will follow this up with another match on December 31, facing Sylhet Strikers at the same time.

Rangpur's journey through the league will take them from Dhaka to Sylhet and eventually to their brief stint in Chattogram. However, after just two matches in Chattogram, they will return to Dhaka for their final three league games.

Rangpur have a solid squad heading into the 2025 BPL. Retaining their key players from last season, Nurlul Hasan Sohan will continue as the captain, with Sheikh Mehedi Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin anchoring the local contingent. Other domestic talents like Sohumya Sarkar, Rakibul Hasan, Saif Hassan, and Nahid Rana will play pivotal roles in the team’s success.

On the international front, Alex Hales of England is the key batting recruit, bringing experience and firepower to the side. The team has also signed two more explosive Pakistanis, Khushdil Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed, who are known for their aggressive batting. A major attraction this season will be Saurav Netravalkar, the talented American pacer, who will make his debut in the BPL. Along with him, fellow USA cricketer Steven Ryan Taylor joins the squad, aiming to make a statement.

Afghanistan's Allah Gazanfar will also play his first BPL season for Rangpur, adding depth to their bowling attack. Along with established names like Saifuddin, Shamim Hossain, and Mohammad Irfan, Rangpur’s pace and spin options look well-rounded.
