Ghazanfar Reveals the Secret Behind His Success Against Bangladesh
Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar, who celebrated Mushfiqur Rahim’s wicket with Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic "Siuuu" celebration, had only five ODIs under his belt before this match. However, his outstanding performance played a pivotal role in Afghanistan’s dominant 92-run victory over Bangladesh. Ghazanfar claimed six wickets single-handedly, as Bangladesh struggled against his spin attack, being bowled out for only 143 runs. Awarded Player of the Match, the young spinner shared insights into his exceptional performance.
Discussing his approach, Ghazanfar said, “In my first spell, my rhythm was good, and I took one wicket. But after that, I felt I didn’t bowl as well as I could. So, when I returned for my second spell, I focused on coming back stronger, and I achieved that.”
Taking six wickets against Bangladesh was a dream come true for Ghazanfar. He expressed, “I tried my best and helped the team win. Taking 5-6 wickets for the team is every bowler’s dream, and today mine was fulfilled.”
He also highlighted the guidance from senior players Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, which was instrumental in his performance. “Rashid and Nabi played a crucial role in my bowling. They always give me valuable advice, which helps produce good results in the match,” he added.
At just 18 years old, Ghazanfar has now taken a total of 10 wickets in six international ODIs. Last month, he also made significant contributions to Afghanistan's victory in the Emerging Asia Cup.
