Youth Tigers Secure a Comfortable Victory Over UAE
Bangladesh U-19 team clinched an emphatic 8-wicket victory against the United Arab Emirates, taking a 1-0 lead in the four-match ODI series. The first ODI had been abandoned due to rain.
On Tuesday at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, UAE opted to bat first after winning the toss but were bowled out for 163 runs. The Junior Tigers chased down the target with ease, reaching it with 95 balls to spare.
Batting first, UAE lost early wickets as openers Aryan Saxena and Nurullah Ayubi departed with scores of 2 and 0, respectively. UAE was struggling at 15/3.
Yayen Kiran and Muhammad Ryan Khan then steadied the innings. Yayen fell after scoring 26, while Ryan, supported by Madhav Manoj, put up a resilient 49 off 87 balls before being run out. Controlled bowling by the Bangladeshi bowlers saw UAE’s U-19 team bowled out for 163 runs.
For Bangladesh, Saad Islam Rajin took four wickets, while Rafuzzaman Rafi claimed three.
In pursuit of the modest target of 164, Bangladesh stumbled early as Jawad Abrar fell for just 2 runs. However, Rifat Beg and captain Azizul Hakim Tamim put on a formidable 116-run partnership, bringing Bangladesh close to victory. Rifat scored 71 off 79 balls, hitting eight fours and a six, while Azizul remained unbeaten on 71. Bangladesh reached the target in just 34.2 overs.
