South African wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen has been fined 15% of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. The charge was related to an incident where Klaasen kicked the stumps after being dismissed in the second ODI against Pakistan.

Klaasen has also received one demerit point for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. The on-field umpires filed the complaint after the match, and Klaasen accepted the charges, which meant no formal hearing was required.

The incident occurred during the second ODI between South Africa and Pakistan on December 19. Klaasen was batting superbly at the time and was on 97 runs when he was dismissed. After hitting a catch near the boundary line, it was caught by Irfan Khan, leaving Klaasen disappointed with his missed century. In his frustration, he kicked the stumps after being dismissed as the final batter.

In this match, South Africa was set a massive target of 330 runs after three Pakistani batsmen scored half-centuries. Despite Klaasen’s heroic 97, South Africa was bowled out for just 248.

With this loss, South Africa is already facing a series defeat against Pakistan. The Proteas will now aim to avoid a whitewash in the third ODI against Pakistan.
