They are a force to reckon with: Sunil Gavaskar sends warning to team India ahead of Bangladesh Tests
Before the series against Bangladesh, Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has cautioned Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and the rest of the Indian team. After whitewashing Pakistan on their home ground, there is no room for India to take Bangladesh lightly. According to Gavaskar, Bangladesh is now a formidable team in Test cricket and deserves respect.
Bangladesh has yet to secure a victory against India in Test cricket, with India having won all 13 encounters between the two teams. Naturally, India might underestimate such a team. This is precisely why Sunil Gavaskar has warned India. Bangladesh has been performing well in recent Test matches and has a strong pace attack.
In a column for the Mid-Day newspaper, Gavaskar wrote, "By beating Pakistan in two Tests on their home turf, Bangladesh has shown they are a force to be reckoned with. Even two years ago, when India toured Bangladesh, they faced a tough challenge. Now, after winning the series against Pakistan, they are ready to battle against India as well."
Gavaskar further added, "They have some outstanding players and some promising young talent who have overcome the habit of being intimidated by opponents at the start of their international careers. Anyone who plays against them now knows that they cannot afford to let their concentration slip for even a moment. Pakistan felt that acutely. It’s definitely a series to look forward to."
The first Test will start in Chennai on September 19, with the second Test beginning in Kanpur on September 27.
