Indian pacer Yash Dayal has been accused of rape, physical assault, and mental harassment by a woman who claims he deceived her with a false promise of marriage. A case was officially filed on July 7 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, the FIR has been registered under Section 59 of India’s new criminal code, which classifies establishing a sexual relationship under a false promise of marriage as rape.

The complainant alleges that she had a five-year-long relationship with Dayal. During this time, he introduced her to his family, who treated her like a daughter-in-law. However, she claims the relationship was marked by consistent physical and psychological abuse.

“When I questioned him about his involvement with other women, he would become violent. Over time, he broke my confidence and made me mentally and financially dependent on him,” said the woman in her statement. “I’ve suffered from depression and even attempted suicide multiple times due to his behavior.”

She also alleged that Dayal took money from her during their relationship and used her emotionally and physically.

The complaint was initially submitted online to the office of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. On June 21, the CM’s office directed the Ghaziabad Circle Officer to conduct a thorough investigation, with a deadline set for July 21 to complete the inquiry.

Ghaziabad Deputy Commissioner of Police, Patil Nimesh Dashrath, told The Indian Express:
"A case has been registered against Yash Dayal, and an investigation is underway. Dayal has already submitted his statement to the police."

If found guilty, Dayal could face up to 10 years in prison.

The 27-year-old left-arm pacer is yet to make his international debut for India but is a known name in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He played 13 matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the latest season, claiming 13 wickets at an average of 35.16 and an economy rate of 9.59.
