Tensions Rise Between India and Pakistan, Yet Bangladesh Tour to Pakistan Still Likely
Amid rising geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, the Bangladesh national cricket team’s tour to Pakistan remains a strong possibility. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will closely monitor the situation until May 10 before making a final decision. If conditions remain stable, the team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on May 21 for a five-match T20I series beginning on May 25.
The tour comes at a time when reports of missile and artillery exchanges between India and Pakistan have escalated regional concerns. With heightened political instability, the BCB is cautiously assessing security risks. Prior to the Pakistan leg, Bangladesh will face UAE in a two-match T20 series in Sharjah, with the final match on May 19.
Despite the threat of wider conflict, no immediate decision has been made to cancel or postpone the Pakistan tour. BCB president Faruq Ahmed and board officials are in regular contact with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and will continue evaluating the evolving security landscape.
