Ramakrishnan Sridhar, former fielding coach of the Indian national cricket team, is set to conduct a special 10-day fielding camp in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board confirmed the development through a press release on Tuesday.
The camp, scheduled to begin on May 7, aims to enhance the fielding skills of a wide range of Sri Lankan cricketers. Participants will include players from the men’s and women’s national teams, the emerging squads, premier club cricketers, the U-19 team, and the women’s ‘A’ team.
According to the release, Sridhar will begin the camp with the men’s national team before extending his sessions to other squads. He will focus on specific fielding drills, skill-based training modules, and match-simulated scenarios to closely replicate on-field conditions.
During his time in Sri Lanka, Sridhar will also collaborate with coaches from the national, high-performance, and club levels to help develop sustainable fielding programs.
A BCCI Level-3 certified coach, Sridhar served as India’s fielding coach from 2014 to 2021, overseeing more than 300 international matches. He has also worked with Afghanistan’s national team as an assistant coach, and held coaching roles with India’s U-19 team and IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab.
