BCB President: India’s August Tour of Bangladesh Not Yet Finalized
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam has said that India’s proposed tour of Bangladesh in August is not yet finalized, although discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been positive.
Speaking at a press conference in Dhaka on Monday after a six-hour BCB board meeting, Aminul Islam explained:
“I’ve spoken with the BCCI. The discussions have been positive. The tour is scheduled, but they are waiting on some decisions from their government.”
He added that if the August window does not work out, BCCI has assured the BCB that India will visit Bangladesh in the next available window. However, he did not specify any concrete reasons for the uncertainty around the series.
“Talks are ongoing. If for any reason they can’t come in August, they’ll come in the next window. We’re optimistic about this window itself. They are very professional and cooperative,” Aminul said.
The BCB had announced the schedule for the series back in April. According to the plan, India is set to play three ODIs on August 17, 20, and 23, followed by three T20Is on August 26, 29, and 31. The matches are scheduled to be held in Mirpur and Chattogram.
