Bangladesh U-19 Face Must-Win Clash in Final Youth ODI as Zawad Abrar Falls Early
The Bangladesh Under-19 team suffered defeat in the fifth Youth ODI, allowing hosts Sri Lanka to narrow the gap in the six-match series. Despite the loss, captain Azizul Hakim Tamim's side still lead 3-2. To secure the series title, Bangladesh must avoid defeat in the final match.
At Colombo’s Colts Cricket Club Ground, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the team was dealt an early blow when opener Jawad Abrar, who has already struck two centuries in this series, was dismissed for a duck in the second over after facing just 7 deliveries.
While Bangladesh had already ensured they wouldn’t lose the series by winning the fourth ODI, lifting the trophy now depends on the result of the sixth and final match. A win for the hosts would level the series 3-3.
After Jawad's departure, captain Azizul Hakim Tamim joined opener Kalam Siddique at the crease in an attempt to stabilize the innings. By the end of the 10th over, Bangladesh were 39 without further loss, with Kalam scoring 24 off 5 boundaries and Tamim unbeaten on 12.
