Bangladesh is set to face India in the first Test of their two-match series, with the match starting tomorrow in Chennai. India boasts an impressive record, remaining unbeaten in 17 home Test series since November 2012. However, Bangladesh comes into this match with confidence after recently whitewashing Pakistan in Rawalpindi.
Winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bowl first, signaling their intent to challenge the Indian batting lineup. This time, Bangladesh is better prepared to face the formidable opposition, aiming for their first-ever Test series victory on Indian soil.
India last played a Test in January, and the eight-month gap may put them under pressure. Bangladesh aims to capitalize on this opportunity. Notably, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant returns to Test cricket after a hiatus of 629 days. India's pace attack will be spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj.
Though Bangladesh gained Test status in 2000, they have played only three Tests on Indian soil, with their first encounter in Hyderabad in 2017. They have faced India twice more since then—both resulting in losses.
