Afghanistan's AM Ghazanfar Ruled Out of ICC Champions Trophy Due to Injury
Afghanistan has received a major setback ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, as young spin-bowling sensation AM Ghazanfar has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
Ghazanfar sustained the injury during Afghanistan’s recent tour of Zimbabwe. After scans, it was confirmed that he would be sidelined for at least four months for treatment and recovery.
In his place, Nangiyal Kharoti, who was in the reserve pool, has been added to Afghanistan's main squad for the Champions Trophy. Additionally, Mujeeb Ur Rahman has not fully recovered yet.
Afghanistan is placed in a challenging group in the tournament, alongside England, South Africa, and Australia. Their group-stage matches will take place on February 21, 26, and 28.
