BCB and Prime Bank Sign Landmark Partnership to Transform School Cricket, Build State-of-the-Art Gym and Recovery Centre

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Prime Bank have entered into a landmark partnership aimed at transforming grassroots cricket and providing emerging cricketers with world-class facilities. As part of this collaboration, the two organizations will work to further develop school cricket while also establishing a state-of-the-art gymnasium and recovery centre for young players.

Following the model of cricketing powerhouses such as Australia, India, and England, Bangladesh is now placing greater emphasis on school cricket as the foundation for identifying and nurturing future talent. The primary objective of the initiative is to introduce young athletes to scientific fitness programs, recovery infrastructure, and strength and conditioning from an early stage of their development.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, officials drew inspiration from Sri Lanka’s rich school cricket culture, particularly the iconic “Battle of the Maroons” between St. Thomas’ College and Royal College in Colombo. The vision is to elevate school cricket in Bangladesh into a nationwide celebration while ensuring that talented young cricketers receive access to modern facilities from the very beginning of their careers.

Prime Bank has been a long-standing sponsor of the BCB’s School Cricket Tournament. Through this new agreement, the bank has expanded its commitment by partnering with the BCB in the construction of the new gymnasium and recovery centre.

According to cricket analysts, providing a promising 16-year-old fast bowler or batter with access to sports science, physiotherapy, and a modern gymnasium at an early stage can significantly enhance both performance and career longevity. The young cricketers competing in school tournaments today are expected to form the backbone of Bangladesh’s national team in 2035.

The partnership also aims to ensure that talented young cricketers from districts such as Dhaka, Sylhet, Khulna, and Barishal have access to training facilities and support systems comparable to those available to players in leading cricketing centres like Mumbai and Cape Town. Through this historic collaboration, the BCB and Prime Bank have taken a major step toward building the future of Bangladesh cricket.
