Sports Legend Abdus Sadeque Passes Away, BCB Mourns His Death
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed profound sorrow at the passing of Abdus Sadeque, one of the most respected and distinguished figures in Bangladesh’s sporting history. He breathed his last in Dhaka today.
A recipient of the National Sports Award, Abdus Sadeque represented both Pakistan and Bangladesh in international hockey. He was not only a celebrated hockey player but also a prominent footballer who competed successfully at the highest level of domestic football. His contributions to sports, both as a player and later as an organiser, earned him widespread respect and recognition.
His dedication to the development and promotion of sports, particularly hockey, inspired generations of athletes and played a significant role in the growth of the country’s sporting landscape.
On behalf of the BCB, the President, Board of Directors, players and staff have expressed their deep condolences and sympathy following the passing of Abdus Sadeque. The Bangladesh Cricket Board also extended its heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family members during this difficult time.
