New Zealand produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat England by 160 runs in the third Test at Trent Bridge. Powered by a massive first-innings total and a century from Daryl Mitchell in the second innings, the Black Caps remained in complete control throughout the match. Chasing a challenging target in the fourth innings, England were bowled out for just 212 as the Kiwi bowlers wrapped up an emphatic victory.

After winning the toss, New Zealand elected to bat first. Openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway laid the perfect foundation with a record-breaking partnership that put the visitors firmly in control. Latham played a magnificent knock of 151 off 214 balls, while Conway smashed 157 from 224 deliveries. England captain Ben Stokes was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 70, but New Zealand still posted an imposing 438 in their first innings.

In reply, England fought back through Ben Duckett, who blasted a brilliant 113 off just 99 balls. Youngster Jacob Bethell contributed a valuable 74, but Nathan Smith’s impressive spell of 4 for 91 ensured England were bowled out for 354. As a result, New Zealand secured a crucial first-innings lead of 84 runs.

Batting again, New Zealand declared their second innings at 288 for 9, thanks to a fighting century from Daryl Mitchell, who scored exactly 100. The declaration left England with a daunting target to chase in the fourth innings.

England’s chase never gained momentum as they lost wickets at regular intervals from the very beginning. Disciplined bowling from Nathan Smith and Zakary Foulkes proved too much for the hosts, who were bundled out for 212 in just 51.2 overs. New Zealand completed a comprehensive 160-run victory to end the match in dominant fashion.
