A new chapter has begun in Bangladesh cricket. Former national team captain Tamim Iqbal has been appointed as the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Cricket fans are hopeful that under his leadership, the country’s cricket will progress in a more dynamic and organized manner.
BCB’s new president has been congratulated by BCCI’s vice-president Rajib Shukla. He wrote on X, “Congratulations to Tamim Iqbal on becoming the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board. As a former cricketer, his leadership will further enrich the prospects of Bangladesh cricket both domestically and internationally.”
The National Sports Council (NSC) has formed an 11-member ad hoc committee, with Tamim as its head. Although his tenure is initially for three months, he is highly likely to remain president in the elected committee as well. This committee will be responsible for organizing the upcoming elections, which will shape the future of Bangladesh cricket.
The new leadership in the board has also raised hopes for an improvement in cricketing relations between India and Bangladesh.
