India to Tour Bangladesh in August for White-Ball Series; Senior Players Including Kohli Likely to Be Rested
India is set to tour Bangladesh in August for a six-match white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is. However, the series is likely to see the absence of some senior Indian players, including Virat Kohli, as the BCCI looks to manage player workload following a hectic schedule.
The tour will come right after India’s high-stakes five-Test series in England, leaving a short two-week gap before the Bangladesh series begins. With that in mind, the Indian team management is considering resting key players to avoid burnout.
According to multiple Indian media reports, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are likely to skip the ODI series against Bangladesh. Both players have already taken a break from T20 internationals, and their omission from the ODIs would mean a full break from the tour.
Jasprit Bumrah may also be rested, with team management cautious about his fitness, especially given the limited turnaround time between series. The BCCI is unlikely to take risks with the premier pacer’s workload.
Other big names such as Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and KL Rahul are also expected to sit out the ODIs but could feature in the T20I leg of the tour.
In the absence of these stars, India is expected to give opportunities to several emerging talents. Players like Sai Sudharsan and Abhishek Sharma are among those being considered to take center stage in the Bangladesh series.
The tour will follow the conclusion of the IPL 2025 season, which ends on May 25, after which the Indian team will embark on a grueling phase of international cricket. The Bangladesh series will be a key opportunity for India to test its bench strength ahead of the next ICC events.
