Lahore Qalandars made a start to their Pakistan Super League (PSL) campaign, defeating Hyderabad Kingsmen by a commanding 69 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Batting first after winning the toss, Lahore Qalandars posted an impressive 199/6 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Hyderabad Kingsmen were bowled out for just 130 in 20 overs.
Lahore got off to a flying start, with Mohammad Naeem and Fakhar Zaman putting together an 84-run opening partnership. They scored 64 runs in the powerplay, setting the tone for the innings.
Fakhar Zaman played a brilliant knock, scoring 53 runs in an aggressive manner, while Naeem added 30. Despite losing a few wickets in the middle overs, Lahore maintained momentum.
Haseebullah Khan remained unbeaten on 40, guiding the innings, while Sikandar Raza provided a late flourish with a quickfire 24 off just 10 balls. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi added the finishing touches with two sixes at the end, taking the total to 199.
However, Bangladesh batter Parvez Hossain Emon could not make a strong impression on his PSL debut, scoring 14 runs off 13 balls, including one six.
Chasing 200, Hyderabad suffered early blows as Shaheen Afridi and Ubaid Shah removed both openers quickly.
The Kingsmen kept losing wickets at regular intervals, with Sikandar Raza, Haris Rauf, and Mustafizur Rahman maintaining tight control. Mustafizur picked up 1 wicket for just 19 runs in his 4 overs.
The dismissals of Kusal Perera and Marnus Labuschagne further dented Hyderabad’s hopes, as the match slipped completely in Lahore’s favor. Eventually, Hyderabad were bowled out for 130, sealing a comprehensive win for Lahore Qalandars.
