Cricket Australia has named former Test captain Tim Paine as head coach for the upcoming Australia A series against Sri Lanka A, set to begin on July 4 in Darwin. Paine will be supported by Adam Griffith, the national men’s fast bowling coach, Scott Prestwidge, assistant coach of the Australian women’s team, and Trent Keep, development coach of Northern Territory Cricket.

Paine, who has been involved with both the Australia A and women's sides in recent years, previously coached the Prime Minister’s XI against India last December. This marks his first full assignment as head coach of the A team.

In a parallel development, Cricket Australia has also announced a special development camp at the MRF Academy in Chennai, India, from July 31 to August 13, for 12 promising young players — primarily batters, wicketkeepers, and spinners. The camp will focus on match scenarios, intense skills training, and fitness development.

Brian McFadyen, Senior Program Manager at Cricket Australia, will serve as team manager for the MRF camp. Coaching duties will be handled by Anthony Clark (Australia U19 head coach), Stephen Stubbings (South Australia batting coach), and Greg Moller (Queensland Academy of Sport).

Meanwhile, left-arm offspinner Janden Jeha has been added to the Australia A squad for the multi-format home series against Sri Lanka A.

Cricket Australia’s EGM of High Performance, Ben Oliver, stated:

“We’re proud of our long-standing relationship with the MRF Academy. For many, this will be their first subcontinental experience, providing a valuable opportunity to adapt to challenging conditions.”

“Tim Paine’s passion for developing emerging talent has been clear over the last two years. His growing coaching experience makes him the ideal choice to lead the Australia A team.”
