Shaun Tait Appointed as Bangladesh's New Pace Bowling Coach

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait as the new pace bowling coach of the national team. The announcement came on the same day the board officially parted ways with previous coach Andre Adams.

Tait is expected to begin working with Bangladesh’s fast bowlers, including Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, later this month. His contract runs through to November 2027.

The 2007 World Cup-winning pacer has prior coaching experience in Bangladesh, having served as head coach of Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Tait had previously received an offer to become Bangladesh’s pace coach during the last BPL season.

Since retiring from international cricket, Shaun Tait has focused full-time on coaching. He served as Pakistan's national fast bowling coach for a year and has also been involved in various franchise leagues such as the PSL and BPL.

The pace bowling coach role in the Bangladesh team became vacant following the departure of South African legend Allan Donald after the 2023 ODI World Cup. New Zealander Andre Adams was appointed ahead of the Sri Lanka series earlier this year. However, the BCB has now decided to end Adams’ contract early, citing dissatisfaction with his performance. Adams was initially contracted until February 2026.

With this change, BCB is hopeful that Shaun Tait’s experience and aggressive pace philosophy will bring renewed energy and performance to the Tigers’ fast-bowling unit.
