In the history of the IPL, the Gujarat Titans have never experienced such a record. For the first time, the team collapsed with such a low score. Starting by batting first against Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad, Gujarat could only manage to score 89 runs before losing all their wickets. This is the lowest team total of the season. In response, Delhi secured victory with 53 balls to spare, losing only 4 wickets.
Gujarat opted to bat first after losing the toss. The wickets started falling right from the beginning, putting Gujarat in a precarious position. The team's captain, Shubman Gill, returned to the pavilion with only 11 runs to his name. From then on, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
When the team's score was 48, Gujarat had lost 6 wickets. Until that point, Sai Sudarshan had scored 12 runs, which was the highest individual score. Rashid Khan showcased his batting prowess, facing 24 balls and scoring 31 runs. When Rashid took his ninth wicket for Gujarat, they were at 9 wickets down.
With a score of 89 runs, Gujarat's innings came to an end in the first ball of the 18th over.
Mukesh Kumar led the Delhi Capitals' bowling attack, taking the highest 3 wickets. Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs also grabbed 2 wickets each, while Khalil Ahmed and Akshar Patel contributed with one wicket each.
Gujarat's openers, Jack Fraser MacGregor and Prithvi Shaw, were aggressive from the start. MacGregor scored 20 runs off 10 balls with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes but bid farewell to the crease after 10 balls.
Another opener, Prithvi Shaw, failed to make the desired impact with the bat today. Apart from MacGregor's dismissal, he returned scoring only 7 runs off 7 balls.
It seemed like Abhishek Porwal and Shai Hope would finish the game. However, these two batters returned almost at the same time.
Delhi Capitals faced a slight hiccup in their chase, losing 4 wickets before securing victory. Rishabh Pant and Sumit Kumar were at the crease until the end of the match. Pant scored 16 runs off 11 balls, while Sumit contributed 9 runs off 9 balls.
