Tamim's Stormy Batting Overshadowed as Salman Guides Barishal to Thrilling 5-Wicket Victory
In a dramatic final over, Mohammad Salman hit a boundary off the last ball to not only complete his half-century but also guide Barishal to a thrilling 5-wicket win. Despite a blistering 91-run innings from Tamim Iqbal, Salman’s explosive 53 off 28 balls led Barishal to chase down the target of 183 set by Chattogram in NCL T20.
Chattogram opener Tamim Iqbal was on the brink of a century as he played a fiery knock of 91 runs off 54 balls. His innings, which included 6 sixes, propelled Chattogram to a strong total of 182 runs. However, despite Tamim’s brilliance, Chattogram's bowlers failed to defend the total, and Mohammad Salman’s extraordinary batting overshadowed Tamim’s efforts.
This was Tamim's second half-century of the tournament, reaching the milestone off 37 balls. He was just 9 runs away from his fifth T20 century when he was dismissed, leaving him to regret missing out on the milestone.
Along with Tamim’s 91 runs, Mahmudul Hasan Joy contributed the second-highest score with 22 runs. Barishal’s pacer Mehedi Hasan was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 25 runs. He was the one who bowled out Tamim, ending his knock.
In response, Barishal started strong, with the opening partnership yielding 72 runs. Abdul Majid was dismissed for 19, but the other opener, Iftikhar Hossain Ifti, continued the charge, scoring 56 runs. Shamsul Islam Anik, coming in at number three, could only manage 12 runs. After that, Salman Hossain Imon partnered with captain Sohag Gazi, who made 12 runs. Moin Khan contributed 26 runs off 16 balls.
With the match looking nearly impossible to win, Mohammad Salman Hossain Imon brought Barishal home with an incredible finish. He hit a boundary off the final ball of the innings to bring up his half-century, sealing a thrilling 5-wicket win for his team. Salman’s innings of 53 runs, which came off 28 balls, featured 4 sixes and 2 fours.
