Rain Saves India as Brisbane Test Ends in a Draw
Rain came to India’s rescue in the third Test against Australia in Brisbane, resulting in a draw. The match was frequently interrupted by rain, with no exceptions on the fifth day. Only 24.1 overs of play were possible on the final day, during which eight wickets fell across both innings.
India resumed their first innings at 252/9 on the final day but managed to add only 8 runs before being bowled out for 260. Trailing by 185 runs, Australia started their second innings aggressively but soon faltered under the relentless pressure from Indian bowlers.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj led India’s charge, reducing Australia to 89/7 in their second innings. Captain Pat Cummins then declared the innings, setting India a target of 275 runs.
For Australia, Pat Cummins top-scored with 22 runs in the second innings, followed by Alex Carey with 20 and Travis Head with 17. None of the other batters managed to reach double digits. Jasprit Bumrah was India’s standout bowler, taking 3 wickets.
Chasing 275, India scored 8 runs without losing any wickets in 2.1 overs before bad weather and poor light forced the game to be abandoned. As a result, the match ended in a draw. Travis Head was named Player of the Match.
The five-match series is now tied at 1-1.
