Sylhet Division Finally Registers First Win in NCL T20 After Three Consecutive Losses
After three consecutive defeats in the NCL T20, Sylhet Division finally tasted their first victory. Once again, it was Jishan Alam who took charge with the bat. Sylhet easily chased down the 145-run target set by Khulna, winning by 6 wickets with 9 balls to spare. Opener Jishan Alam, who scored 73 runs, was named the Player of the Match.
In the third match of the day at Sylhet’s Outer Ground, Khulna captain Nurul Hasan Sohan won the toss and decided to bat first. However, apart from Sohan, no other batsman could provide significant resistance. Sohan's unbeaten 48 off 34 balls was the highest score for his team.
Opening batsmen Anamul Haque Vijay and Imrul Kayes both failed. Vijay was dismissed for 9 off 8 balls, caught by Ebadot Hossain. Imrul Kayes, on 14, was caught off Zeeshan Alam’s bowling. Azizul Hakim Tamim, who came in at number three, also failed, scoring just 9 runs off 13 balls. Mohammad Mithun added 20 runs in the middle order.
Captain Nurul Hasan Sohan fought alone in the middle, holding the innings together. He remained unbeaten at 48, hitting 3 sixes and 2 fours off 34 balls. Later, Ziaur Rahman contributed 21 runs, and Khulna’s innings ended at 144/7. Ebadot Hossain was the standout bowler for Sylhet, picking up 2 wickets for 28 runs.
Chasing a manageable target, Sylhet got off to a flying start with an opening partnership between Toufik Khan Tushar and Jishan Alam. Jishan played aggressively from the start, and the pair put on 78 runs for the first wicket. However, the partnership was broken when Tushar was dismissed for 24. Pinak Ghosh, coming in at number three, scored just 6, and wicketkeeper-batter Amit Hasan was out for 11 off 13 balls.
Jishan, after hitting a six, completed his 50 off 35 balls and became even more destructive. He scored 73 runs before being bowled by Mrittunjay Choudhury. In his 48-ball knock, he hit 6 sixes and 4 fours. Sylhet found the easiest path to victory with Jishan’s explosive innings. In the end, Tofail Ahmed played a quick cameo, scoring 23 off 12 balls, helping Sylhet seal the win. With 9 balls to spare, Sylhet secured their first victory of the tournament by 6 wickets.
