Bangladesh is in a commanding position in the Rawalpindi Test. At the end of the fourth day, Bangladesh still leads by 94 runs. In the final moments of the day, Tiger pacer Shariful Islam managed to take one wicket. After scoring 565 runs in their first innings, Bangladesh saw Pakistan finish the fourth day's play with 23 runs on the board for the loss of 1 wicket. Pakistan will begin batting on the final day of the Test on Sunday, with the first session being crucial as always.
If Bangladesh can quickly dismiss Pakistani batters, they can look forward to a good outcome. Mehedi Hasan Miraz shares this sentiment. Speaking at the press conference after the fourth day, Miraz emphasized the importance of the first session:
"If we bowl well in the first session and take quick wickets, it will be advantageous for us. We have secured a good lead. Now we just need to focus on taking wickets and bowling in the right areas. I was impressed with how the bowlers performed in the last hour. I was fielding in the slip. I hope we will bowl well tomorrow."
At the end of the fourth day, Bangladesh is still 94 runs ahead of Pakistan. When asked about the possibility of victory, Miraz responded, "Alhamdulillah. Our batters have performed exceptionally well. Since we are bowling, we have a good chance if we put in the effort."
In Test cricket, Bangladesh has often struggled to score large runs. Scoring over 500 runs in Pakistan is a significant achievement, and this credit goes to the batters. Miraz commented:
"Alhamdulillah. We are very happy. After a long time, we scored 500 runs. The players performed brilliantly. Especially Sadman, who scored 93 runs. Liton Kumar Das also played exceptionally well. Mushfiqur Rahim scored 191 runs. I also contributed."
Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim shared a 192-run partnership, which was crucial in setting a big score. Reflecting on their partnership, Miraz said:
"Certainly, the partnership between us was excellent. Mushfiq deserves credit. He performed brilliantly. He always supports me and communicates well. The wicket was excellent. If we continue to play well, we need to carry on. Tomorrow we have a great opportunity. The bowlers performed very well in the last hour today. If we can take quick wickets tomorrow, we will be in a good position."
Miraz also thanked the Pakistani hosts: "I would like to especially thank the Pakistanis for their hospitality. Their hospitality was excellent. The wicket is very good. We have played exceptionally well. I had not played a Test match in Pakistan before. This is my first Test here, and I am very happy to have batted in these conditions."
