Although Bangladesh lost the first match of the T20 series, Jaker Ali Anik earned a prize. He won the 'Smart Saver of the Match' award by taking a brilliant catch of Suryakumar Yadav's aerial shot off Mustafizur Rahman's delivery.
In the 6th over of India's innings, Mustafizur bowled the third delivery, and captain Suryakumar Yadav lofted the ball towards deep square leg. Standing at deep square leg, fielder Jaker Ali Anik promptly caught the ball.
This catch by Jaker Ali marked the end of Suryakumar's cameo innings of 29 runs. Suryakumar faced just 14 balls to score 29, maintaining a strike rate of 207.14, with 2 fours and 3 sixes in his innings.
Although Jaker Ali received the 'Smart Saver of the Match' award for his catch, he couldn’t contribute much with the bat. He hit a six but got out after scoring 8 runs in a brief 6-ball inning.
In the first match of the 3-match T20 series in Gwalior, Bangladesh was defeated by India by 7 wickets. After batting first, Bangladesh was bowled out for 127 runs, with one ball remaining in their innings. India comfortably chased the target, losing 3 wickets and reaching the target in just 11.5 overs.
