BCB is happy with Bangladesh's performance in the World Cup
Nazmul Hossain's team has returned home after the World Cup. Winning three matches in the group stage, Bangladesh reached the Super Eight but lost the first two matches, still keeping a chance for the semifinals. However, due to another batting failure, the equation didn't work out. Despite the batsmen's lack of ability and the team management's wrong strategies, BCB officials expressed satisfaction with the team's performance.
In terms of victories, this T20 World Cup was the best for the Bangladesh team, as they hadn't won three matches in any previous tournament. Even though the bowlers performed well in the USA and the West Indies, the Tiger batsmen failed throughout the tournament. Afghanistan reached the World Cup semifinals for the first time by defeating Bangladesh, yet the Bangladesh Cricket Board directors were not disheartened.
BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus explained their reasons for satisfaction:
"Before going to the World Cup, our target was to qualify for the second round (Super Eight). In that regard, we qualified. It's definitely positive that we reached our target. If we split it, one side is happy to have reached the target."
"If you talk about further achievements, we had success in our bowling department. Our pacers and spinners bowled brilliantly, especially Rishad. It was a big stage for him to prove himself, and overall, he did well. Looking at it all, we played well in this World Cup."
Despite three victories in the group stage, the Tigers had to return home without any wins in the Super Eight.
