Taskin Sends Legal Notice to Two Media Outlets
Taskin Ahmed missing the team bus became a bigger issue than Bangladesh advancing to the Super Eight or failing to reach the semi-finals in the T20 World Cup. After the World Cup, several domestic and international media outlets reported on Taskin missing the team bus and the reasons behind it.
However, two media outlets have faced trouble for their reports on this issue. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has sent them legal notices.
Taskin Ahmed, the vice-captain of the Bangladesh team in the T20 World Cup, has sent separate legal notices to the two media outlets through his lawyer, Zobayer Mohammad Aurangzeb.
The notice sent to the daily newspaper Samakal mentions the names of Editor Alamgir Hossain, Publisher Abul Kalam Azad, and Reporter Sekandar Ali. Samakal published a report titled "Taskin's Sleep and Vomiting Incident" on July 3.
Through his lawyer, Taskin Ahmed has claimed that the news is defamatory and false. Samakal must publish an apology within seven days regarding this issue, or else legal action will be taken along with a demand for compensation.
The legal notice sent to Ekattor Television's Khelajog mentions the names of Ekattor Media Limited, General Manager ATM Nazrul Islam, Head of Operations, Senior News Editor Arifur Rahman, and Reporter Partho Banik.
Like Samakal, Khelajog must also publish an apology within seven days. Otherwise, Taskin Ahmed and his lawyer will take similar legal action.
