Najmul Hossain Shanto has achieved more than what he desired from Shakib Al Hasan, who has been out of action. However, it's Shakib Al Hasan who has been absent from playing this Test match, surprising the fans of this all-rounder. Despite his absence, Shakib has been seen playing for the Tigers, as he usually does. Although he performed individually, he couldn't lead the team to victory.
After a year's hiatus from Test cricket, Shakib returned with the ball, grabbing a maximum of three wickets in the first innings, but he couldn't take more than one wicket in the second innings. With the bat too, Shakib couldn't shine much, scoring only 15 runs in one inning and 36 runs in the other.
However, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto praised Shakib despite his performance, saying, "I have received more than I expected from him. Truly. Having such an experienced player in Test cricket always helps. He has given feedback to every player on the field. We have received a lot of help from him."
Asked how important it was for Shakib to play the match, Shanto replied, "We knew from the beginning that Shakib bhai would play in the second Test. We knew it well in advance. If he had informed us about his preparations, it would have been good for the team. I hope he can inform us earlier next time, then the plan will be clear with that information. He has played for almost 37 years after playing for so long, he takes almost a year to play again."
