The slip fielders of Bangladesh seem to have taken the vow of catching misses in the ocean of missed catches. Just like the previous day, Bangladesh's fielders in the slips seem lethargic. Standing in the slips, they are dropping catch after catch in various fashions. Slip catching remains a cause of frustration, and Sri Lankans are taking full advantage of these opportunities.
Prabath Jayasuriya has had two lifelines. Firstly, Shanto, Dipu, and Zakir; despite having three slip fielders, they couldn't catch Prabath Jayasuriya's catch! It seems like a collective effort to miss catches. Unfortunately for bowler Khaled, he had no luck. Then wicketkeeper Liton Das also dropped a catch from Jayasuriya's bottom edge.
At the end of the first session on the second day, Sri Lanka's scoreboard showed 476 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, with a total of 144 overs played. In this session alone, Sri Lanka managed to score 65 runs, losing only two wickets in 26 overs. The partnership between Kamindu Mendis and Prabath Jayasuriya, who scored fifty in the previous Test, seems to be accelerating the run rate on such a wicket.
