India chose to bat
After 17 years, India once again has the chance to win the T20 World Cup. Today, Saturday, India and South Africa will face off in the World Cup final in Barbados. This will be South Africa's first appearance in a T20 World Cup final. India have won the toss and have opted to bat.
India won its first T20 World Cup in 2007, and 17 years have passed since then without another title. On the other hand, South Africa has never reached the finals of either the ODI World Cup since 1975 or the T20 World Cup since its inception in 2007 until today. If South Africa wins, it will be their first World Cup trophy in any format.
This time, the successors of Jacques Kallis are not willing to return empty-handed from the World Cup stage. South Africa has performed excellently in this tournament, remaining unbeaten under Aiden Markram's leadership. India is in a similar position. However, only a few hours of battle will determine who lifts the trophy. Supporters hope for an exciting match rather than a one-sided affair.
India and South Africa have faced each other six times in T20 World Cups, with Team India winning four times and the Proteas twice. This will be their first encounter in this tournament. The South African team has been in great form in the current T20 World Cup and has made no changes to their playing eleven in recent matches.
