Shakib Al Hasan's Bangla Tigers Begin T10 League with Loss

Shakib Al Hasan's Bangla Tigers started their campaign in the Abu Dhabi T10 League with a loss. In their opening match, they were defeated by Morrisville Samp Army by 6 wickets. Despite the team's defeat, Shakib lived up to his name with a strong performance.

On Thursday, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Bangla Tigers lost the toss and were asked to bat first. They lost their first wicket at a team score of 21 when Lukman Faisal was dismissed for 5 runs, caught by Hazrat Bilal off Amir Hamza’s delivery. Following this, Hazratullah Zazai and Dasun Shanaka settled in and started batting cautiously, playing at a steady pace.

Although the Morrisville bowlers failed to take further wickets initially, they managed to slow down the run rate. However, Zazai and Shanaka later made up for it. Zazai remained unbeaten, scoring 35 runs off 26 balls, while Shanaka made an impressive 62 runs off 27 balls, which included 4 fours and 6 sixes. In the end, Bangla Tigers posted 106 runs for the loss of just one wicket in their allotted overs. Shakib Al Hasan did not get a chance to bat.

Chasing a target of 107, Morrisville lost two wickets to Shakib Al Hasan. The captain struck early by getting Faf du Plessis caught out for 29 runs. Later, Shakib also played a key role in dismissing Morrisville's captain, Rohan Mustafa, who was stumped off his delivery. Shakib also contributed to a run-out.

However, despite Shakib’s excellent bowling, Morrisville, with contributions from Du Plessis (29), Jack Taylor (27), and Karim Janat (15), managed to reach the target with 3 balls to spare, losing 4 wickets in the process.
