Former leg-spinner of Pakistan and member of the 1992 World Cup-winning team, Mushtaq Ahmed, has become the new spin bowling coach for the Tigers. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed this information today (April 16) through a press release.
The press release stated that this renowned spinner will join the Bangladesh team for the series against Zimbabwe. Mushtaq Ahmed will remain associated with the Bangladesh team until the end of the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the West Indies and the United States.
Mushtaq Ahmed, a 53-year-old ex cricketer has served as the spin bowling coach for the England team from 2008 to 2014, the West Indies team from 2018 to 2019, and the Pakistan team from 2020 to 2022. Additionally, he was the bowling consultant for the Pakistan team from 2014 to 2016.
On his new assignment, Mushtaq Ahmed said: "It is a great honor for me to be a part of the Bangladesh cricket team as a spin bowling coach. I am looking forward to the role and want to pass my experience to the players because they are very coachable and I always believe that they are one of the most dangerous teams around. They can beat anyone because they have the capability, the resources and the talent. I will try to instill that belief into them. I am very excited at the opportunity to work with the team."
