Review after Eid regarding poor performance against Sri Lanka

Bangladesh's team couldn't pose much of a challenge against Sri Lanka in the Test series. With losses in both tests, disappointment looms not only among loyal supporters but also among the Bangladesh Cricket Board officials. Discussions will be held by the board post-Eid regarding the criticism against the team's performance against Sri Lanka.

Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the cricket operations of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, attended the final T20 match between Australia and Bangladesh women's teams at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. After the match, alongside discussions about the women's match, he also spoke about the performance of the men's team with the media.

Jalal Yunus stated that he doesn't have a problem with losing matches, but the type of losses matters. He expressed dissatisfaction as replying to Sri Lanka's 500 Bangladesh couldn't even reach 450 runs, let alone 400, which he found disappointing.

He said, "It's possible to lose a match, but there shouldn't be a lack of competition. The biggest issue here is that if they [Sri Lanka] can score 500 runs, why couldn't we manage 450? Why couldn't we even get to 400+? There is a big disappointment here."

Jalal Yunus is particularly disappointed with the batters' performance. He accepts mistakes from the new cricketers but is disappointed that the experienced ones haven't been able to deliver. He emphasized the need for adjustments from the new players who have entered the Test team.

He added, "Home ground advantage. We played on two good wickets. We brought Chattogram and Sylhet so that the batters could have opportunities to score runs. In my opinion, the new players playing in the Tests need some time. It's tough to adjust from the beginning in the Test team. I had hoped for runs from those who were experienced but haven't performed. If we had gotten two partnerships from experienced players, then we would have been in a better position. But we haven't got that from them, and that's a big disappointment for us. Bowling has been relatively good."

The board will review the criticisms against Sri Lanka. The selectors and senior players will sit down with the cricket operations in a meeting post-Eid.

Jalal Yunus said, "After Eid, selectors, some senior players, and cricket operations, we all will sit together. We will review the series against Sri Lanka because there are some issues that we need to address."
